Tamil cine industry has become the hunters delight of modern Tamil writers. S. Ramakrishnan entered the industry by writing screenplay and dialogues for Baba. Writer Jayamohan entered as the dialogue writer of Naan Kadavul. Close on heels is Manushyaputhran as the lyricist for Kamals Unnaipol Oruvan. Many other writers including writer Charu Nivedha are struggling to push themselves in to the industry.
When we look into out late writer Sujathas time, he was almost the permanent choice for directors like Mani Ratnam and Shankar, who was called the best script writer. Almost by the same time in which Sujatha came into the industry, Balakumaran too stepped into the field but eventually limited his work in cinema. Now Pattukottai Prabhakar, Subha and Balakrishnan are the ones who are busy within the circles. However, Manimalas entry didnt create much impression.
Our directors like Kamal, K Bhagiyaraj, Prathab Pothan and Pavithran tried their level best to pull in the crime story king- Rajesh Kumar into the tinsel town. But the writer refused to these offers as he is not ready to shift his base from Kovai to Chennai.
This playwright who turned down several offers has finally agreed to step-in by writing story, screen play for debut director Nagavenkatesh. The director is filming the novel Iruttil Oru Vaanampadi of Rajesh Kumar as Agarathi.
So as we expected there was a flattering reason for the sudden mind-change of the writer. The first condition when Nagavenkatesh approached me to use my story was that I wont relocate to Chennai. Second condition was there must not be any change in the story. For my surprise Nagavenkatesh flew from Chennai to Kovai for at least 100 times. He is very sincere, I wish he will emerge successful says the writer.
We must wait to see if the blessing of this senior writer comes true.
